    Drawing With Light

To the photographer, all the world is a stage dramatized by the light; this phrase was written by the stage photographer George Karger in the introduction of an article about the light and stage photography in the Popular Photography – ND magazine (March 1944, p.31).  And, despite the seventy years that separate us from then, the truth of this sentence hasn’t changed at all. Every day new photos continue experimenting with the light like enlightened newbies, using the cosmic flood of sun rays to capture their interpretation of…

My Photo “In The Center” Wins 8th Place in the Contest ‘Resting’

On March 22nd post, I wrote about my participation in the contest “Resting” organized by Photocrowd. The contest, judged and voted, ended and before four days the winners were announced. And, I think that this was my greater “photo-moment” until now for 2015! My photo “In the center” wins 8th place in the expert vote among 598 photos from all over the world! It’s officially in the Top Ten Expert Choices of the contest and gains a place among the photos that appear on the first page of the site!…

Photography, Our Soul and The Best Of Us

It’s one of my childhood memory; our mother to dress us with our best clothes and make our hair pretty in order to go to the photography store and take a good family photo. It was the time that our camera Zenit couldn’t replace the abilities of a professional camera in the hands of a professional photographer. Despite the digital revolution, I believe neither now can do it. But this practice to get ready for a good photo, our childish eyes couldn’t…

Photography Contest : People Resting • March 2015

It is a bit awkward for the week to start with people resting. Monday is the first day of the week and we all usually run to catch up on work, obligations, and tasks. I must admit that one of my bad habits is always to leave anything stressful for Tuesday if I can because I guess that there will be a stressful “Monday” madness gathered everywhere and in everyone. Back to the theme of rest, there was a very interesting photo…

One of my commitments for this year is to participate in many photo contests; as many as I can. Our feelings and the struggle of colors

According to color psychology, colors can carry specific meanings. Αnd, the perception of color can cause evaluations automatically by the person perceiving. The colors in nature attract, distract, or avoid attention. And, we just follow and compromise with this rule in every aspect of our life. Thus, the colors that we choose to surround us, can tell things about our mood and our feelings. Psychological tests and quizzes with colors There are many psychological tests and quizzes that connect our…

On sunny hills you never walk alone

Sunday morning in the Saint Achilles island in the small Prespa Lake and we take a walk on its sunny hills. A route that starts from the church of St. George on the first hill and ends to the big white cross on the last hill of the island. Visitors are coming in groups to see the basilica church of St. Achilles and the other Byzantine monuments and everywhere you can hear their echo. But, the island holds many surprises,…

    Hierakion

I really love the way that people who live and work near nature, perceive and understand seasons and time. They use all their senses, not only their eyes or their clocks. And, their world seems to have a consistency and a coherence that binds them tight with the present. For many, staying near nature may be the answer for stress, lack of a life meaning, and depression. For me, continuing to photograph the seasonal flora and reading about flowers and weeds,…
