In the previous days I was post-processing some photos from our short trip to the forest of the mountain Belles, outside the picturesque village of Ano Poroia, during May when I came across to this photo of beautiful tree leaves brightened by the sunlight. I really love the way that people who live and work near nature, perceive and understand seasons and time. They use all their senses, not only their eyes or their clocks. And, their world seems to have a consistency and a coherence that binds them tight with the present. For many, staying near nature may be the answer for stress, luck of a life-meaning and depression.
I always praise photography for changing the way I see the world, but sometimes I wonder if this change is only due to photography? Being raised in an urban environment in the 80’s and 90’s, when nature was taken so for granted and was considered so “out”, as the domain pop culture was occurring in completely different places. Terms like global warming, environmentally friendly habits, natural living, etc. were discussed only in a theoretical level, in the essays we were writing for exams .
