If you are looking for art journal inspiration during April, there are several ideas to help you make a list of prompts. The word April is etymologically derived from the Latin Aprillis. The Latin verb “aperire” meant “to open”. And, it was probably selected because the weather “opens up” after the Spring equinox in the northern hemisphere. According to another etymological version, April is originating from the Greek Goddess Venus. She was called “Apru” and April was her sacred month. Yet, whatever etymology we accept, April has many important days and fests to use in organizing an art journal prompts list. Plus, it’s the birthday month for many writers and painters to inspire our journal pages with their work.

Firstly, on the first day of April, we can make a “Hello April” or “April’s Fool’s Day” composition. Moreover, April is the month for many important writers, poets, and painters to use their quotes or style in our art journal pages. Furthermore, it’s the month of important religious feasts. Christians celebrate Easter which is a moveable feast and its date is also different for Catholics and Orthodox. And, there are also Jews’ Passover and Muslims’ holy month of Ramadan. Love this! Thanks for the ideas! Though I could not find time for art journaling and such because of my fast approaching licensure exam this May. 😅
Hoping for your Art Journal Prompts this coming June (by that time I'd probably be free already). Btw, thanks for checking out my blog. See you around ~
