It was April 5, 1994, when the death of Kurt Cobain, the frontman of Nirvana band, had announced. I was in the early start of my adolescence and I was listening to the album “Nevermind” unstoppably. I was shocked. I still believe that arts and music offer to people the strongest magic card: to find always a way; to continue, to create, to change, reinvent themselves, to escape. Too bad that there are always exceptions that confirm the rule.
Here, I share my eleven favorite Nirvana lines from their songs.
I. Territorial Pissings (Nevermind, 1991)
Gotta find a way, to find a way when I’m there
Gotta find a way – a better way – I had better wait
Never met a wise man, if so it’s a woman
II. Swap Meet (Bleach, 1989)
She loves him more than he would ever know
He loves her more than he would ever show
III. Dumb (In Utero, 1993)
Skin the sun
Fall asleep
Wish away
The soul is cheap
Lesson learned
Wish me luck
Soothe the burn
Wake me up
IV. Pennyroyal Tea (In Utero, 1993)
Sit and drink Pennyroyal Tea
I’m anemic royalty
Give me a Leonard Cohen afterworld
So I can sigh eternally
V. All Apologies (In Utero, 1993)
What else could I write
I don’t have the right
What else should I be
All apologies
In the sun
In the sun I feel as one
VI. Come As You Are (Nevermind, 1991)
Come as you are, as you were
As I want you to be
As a friend, as a friend
As a known enemy
Whether you listened to Nirvana songs or not, their music genuineness sounds so contemporary and fresh. No one could ever believe that we are talking about a quarter-century before.

Of course I love Come as you are but I think I could easily frame All apologies quote!
