DIY draw a mug with a marker

The previous Saturday I bought some permanent markers for another project, and I tried this very known project of “DIY sharpie mugs”.

Although the sketch didn’t fade away when I made it, I didn’t read all the instructions… and I put the mug in the dishwasher. The drawing was totally disappeared. In some of these “DIY sharpie mug” tutorials, they say to buy a more expensive marker or an oil-based ink, and bake the mug in a COLD OVEN to 350°F (177°C) for half an hour. One tutorial that I found says 425°F, but in all, there were comments telling that after some washes the drawing came off, so I don’t think that the temperature or the baking plays any role at all.

DIY DRAW A MUG WITH A PERMANENT MARKER

To be honest I didn’t try to bake the mugs because I read in this SimpleDIYs youtube clip that it smells somehow… and also I found it such a great idea to have an everyday inspirational mug, totally different from the mug of the previous day.

So, I re-wrote my mug … with my favorite quote from the poet Robert Frost:

“Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself”…

poet Robert Frost

That’s a beautiful way to start your day with your favorite coffee and your favorite, inspirational, but “not so permanent”, word or sketch on it!
