So, today I feel very honored and very happy that this post is about Jukka Nopsanen and his oil painting “The Story of the White Bear“. Jukka Nopsanen is a Finnish award-winning and very talented artist, portrait painter, and art teacher at Aalto University in Helsinki. He has a rich biography and a continuous and active presence in Fine Arts since ’70. Jukka Nopsanen has won many awards. He has participated in many solo and group exhibitions. Also, he has public works and teaching experience.

The story behind the painting

“The Story of the White Bear” is one of his very intriguing, thought-provoking, and award-winning oil paintings. It is a large oil painting on canvas, 100 x 200 cm, with a wildlife theme. The polar bear cub asks for the help of his fellow brown bears. To paint the brown bears, Jukka used photographs by Hannu Huttu as a reference. And, for the polar bear a photograph by an unknown photographer.

The relationship between man and nature and the current environmental threats play a very important role in his art. And, climate change as a result of man’s activities is the main inspiration for this artwork. As an artist, Jukka Nopsanen is aware that we cannot fight against global warming and this is his message. Pollution, global warming, environmental degradation, deforestation, etc. are frequent sources of inspiration and selection of his topics.
