When browsing in Pinterest, we usually read this and after a while we read that and in the end of the day we tend to forget them all. Well, the previous week I found and repinned a truly mind-blowing quote in Pinterest, so powerful that it stucked in me for days…
“Dear me:
Stop doubting,
Keep Going,
Believe In Yourself,
You Got It!
Love, me”

This note published by Jenna Kutcher, a photographer, podcast and educator from Wisconsin (you can visit her blog here and be totally in love with it like I did), reminded me with simple words and the most gentle way how we should treat ourselves. Sometimes we tend to be so focused to the others that we forget to encourage ourself. We may use the most flattering and kind words to others but we criticize continuouasly our efforts. We may justify others behaviour but we never forgive ourselves. Inspired by this note, I gathered in this post some of my favorite quotes about self-love and self-criticism.
I. “The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely.”
C.G. Jung
II. “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.
Buddha
III. “If you have the ability to love, love yourself first.”
Charles Bukowski
IV. “Your task is not to seek for Love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.“
Rumi
V. “Self-love, my liege, is not so vile a sin, as self-neglecting.“
William Shakespeare, Henry V.
VI. “When a woman becomes her own best friend life is easier.”
Diane Von Furstenberg
VII. “We can’t be so desperate for love that we forget where we can always find it; within.”
Alexandra Elle
VIII. “To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance”
Oscar Wilde
IX. “Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.”
Malcolm S. Forbes
X. “Be faithful to that which exists within yourself.”
André Gide
XI. “To establish true self-esteem we must concentrate on our successes and forget about the failures and the negatives in our lives.”
Denis Waitley
XII. “You have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”
Louise L. Hay
