There are so many online photography lessons one can attend and some of them are free. Yet, the difficult part is to find the course to fit your expectations and also to have the self-discipline to accomplish them. In the past I have accomplished several free online courses, whice were very high-leveled and made me wish my academic studies to have been with the same quality. Or, other online lessons that were so theoretical and boring that I quit them after few days.

The key of success for attending a free online course is to find the material that really interests you at the moment you can spend some of your precious time in reading. These are two free online photography courses that I found them well-organized, interesting and useful with great material. So, it’s really worth participating in them.

○ Digital Photography at Stanford University
It includes interactive diagrams, educational text, exam slides, weekly photograph assignments and final exam practice questions. There are several topics that are covered: spatial convolution, thin lenses, gamut mapping, color matching, telephoto zoom lenses, phase detection and depth of field.

Digital Photography (Harvard publisher) at alison.com
Increase your knowledge and understanding of digital photography with this free online course published by Harvard. It includes topics such as exposure settings, how to read and use the histogram, how the light affects a photograph, how the camera sensor work, how camera lenses work, and how to process a photograph using computer software.

Wish you all a beautiful Friday ☼ !!!

  2. The second course looks very interesting. It's always nice to learn more about photography, and I still have to learn a lot. I love taking photos of nature, and I also do portrait photography. But for me I need to follow a course that is not to difficult yet. I really want to learn more about how to use the right light. I also would like to follow a course about Photoshop. I use this sometimes (but not so much, because in portrait photography I like it to be a natural look), but I want to learn more about it.
    Have a nice week,
    greetings, Vanessa

  3. Really glad you found it useful Vanessa !!! I don't use Photoshop, but I guess you can find many tutorials on youtube!!! I think when learning to use a program, it's better to practice everytime to the current problem that arises!!! I always remember how it functions after that !!! I agree with you about natural light; it is our best choice when it's possible !!! Yet, the real challenge is to master all the kinds of light!!! Thank you so much for your comment !!! Wish you a beautiful day!!!
