He was the first prize winner in the “Artist of week – Abstract” contest. Kevin, currently living and working in Ontario of Canada, has this vital relationship with art. Creation for him is a kind of everyday necessity and his portfolio, full of colorful abstracts and intriguing photographs, expresses his original and innovative artistic view.

Interview with artist Kevin Hunt

FAWbyJWP. Would you like to tell us a few words about yourself and your life as an artist for an introduction?

Kevin. My name is Kevin Hunt I am a full-time artist at Night and Day Studios located in Brampton Ontario.

FAWbyJWP. Could you tell us some words about your winning artwork ‘Brief Passion’?

Kevin. This piece was a reflection of short, but strong connections and how profound the effects can be on who we are as individuals.

Medium, character, and inspiration

FAWbyJWP. Do you believe that the themes and the medium you use in your artwork reveal something about your character and your former experience? Can you explain some of them?

Kevin. Absolutely. The theme is used to distinguish the underlying or unifying ‘Idea’ of any piece. With ‘Brief Passion’ I used color and technique to define the feelings my brief passions have had on me, and I would like to think of it as interactive I want my ‘audience’ to reflect when they look at my work. Not so much what is the artist trying to say but, what am I seeing as an ‘Interpreter’.

FAWbyJWP. What do you do to get inspired and how do you handle the ‘dry’ periods?

Kevin. The world is my muse. I’m inspired by everything I take the time to appreciate. If I were to say where I find the most inspiration, I would have to go with the subtle details of life… Birds interacting or maybe a smirk shared between strangers. It’s in these details I find great motivation to create and I don’t have ‘dry’ spells because of this.

FAWbyJWP. What are the most challenges in being creative and an artist?

Kevin. I don’t see any challenges in being creative. I simply live and study art continuously. As an artist, I think the hardest thing we face is ourselves.

FAWbyJWP. What are your plans and aims for your artistic future?

Kevin. I think my work differs through the process, Energy, and the ‘organic’ approach I take to painting, I don’t care to please… I paint because I have to, people tend to complicate things further than they need to… and I feel this is a hindrance I don’t experience by choice.

The role of art in internet, social media, and life

FAWbyJWP. How do you think that your work differs from the rest artists, who are so many here on FAA, but also on the internet and in the market?

Kevin. I want to teach more people about the therapeutic values any form of art has. My main ‘mission’ is to get more people creating and empowering each other.

FAWbyJWP. How would you describe your activity in online communities like FAA or social media networks? Does it play an important role in your sales?

Kevin. I’m very active in online communities. I’d say art is 50% creating and the rest is business these days any career-focused. Artists can use these tools (Instagram, Facebook, Fine arts America) to dramatically increase interest at low cost even the great masters for the most part promoted themselves.

FAWbyJWP. Can art change someone’s life in a better way or influence public life? Would you like to give us an example?

Kevin. I know art can affect people positively in a profound way. I think the best example of this is street art. Through political, environmental, and humanitarian statements we educate each other and gain momentum to causes worth fighting for. As artists, I feel it is our responsibility to affect the world in a positive way.

FAWbyJWP. What is art and creation for you in one phrase?

Kevin. Art and creation are the essences of life itself.
