Artist of the week I – An interview with the photographer Dorothy Pinder

With the purpose of an essential contact with the creators, a new attempt started in Fine Art America and Pixels.com community from the “Artist of the week” group to surpass the initial step of “likes and shares” and learn more about the artists. Every week a contest takes place for the general audience (members and non members) to vote the “Artist of the week”. The winner gives an interview and talks about his artwork and other important issues; creativity, art and internet. I’m so happy and really honoured to host these interviews in my blog.

Photography Prints

Today we will find out more for one of the two winners of the first week, Dorothy Pinder, a talented photographer from Canada.

By jwp: Would you like to tell us few words about yourself and your life for introduction?

Dorothy: I am a self-taught artist, who enjoys the simple things in life. I spend most of my free time on photography.

By jwp: What do you think urge people to seek creation through art? And, what do you think that played a significant role to your decision to become an artist and expose your work?

Dorothy: I think everyone is creative and art is a way to express their creativity. I never really had a hobby or had anything really interest me outside of work and when I stumbled upon an old manual SLR, I found my passion.

By jwp: Do you believe that themes and the medium you use in your artwork reveal something about your character and your former experience? Can you explain some of them?

Dorothy: I think and hope that my work shows my love for the past, such as my abandoned buildings and antiques and my love for the beauty in such simple things as a tree in a field.

By jwp: There are a lot of photographers, painters, artists on the internet and in the market these days, how do you think that your work differs from the rest?

Dorothy: With so many artists on the internet, it’s very easy to get lost. I would describe my work as classic and the thing that keeps me going and wanting to show my work, is when I know I have touched someone in some way with one of my images. It makes me really happy!!

Thank you very much Dorothy Pinder for this interesting conversation. You can find more for her work in her website.
