Love and freedom inspirational quotes

Valentine’s story is a powerful reminder of the power of love. It tells us that no matter how hard it gets, love can always free us from any situation. Defying the emperor’s will, he manifested with his life that love should be allowed to spread freely. His story also teaches us that we should never be afraid to express our love for someone, no matter what the consequences may be. Thus, if we fight for what we believe in ultimately, it’s possible to find freedom through love.

Freedom through love by losing control

Another aspect of the love and freedom concept is being free by losing a fruitless control that is based on the fear of the unknown. American fiction writer Jonathan Carroll has written: “The real love is always chaotic. You lose control; you lose perspective. You lose the ability to protect yourself. The greater the love, the greater the chaos“.

The truth is that love can cause all this chaos in our brain chemistry. Nowadays, many studies and research can uncover the mechanisms that take action when we are hit by Cupid’s arrows. Thus, in this process, there are no bleeding wounds, but hormones. There are adrenaline, dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and vasopressin. And, these hormones adjust our chemical processes, and therefore our feelings, our needs, and our reactions. Moreover, some symptoms are similar to mental disorders; mania, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. But, this idea isn’t new; from ancient times love symptoms were compared to mental illness, and many potions and recipes were suggested to cure lovesickness.

Yet, the news is that love can truly change our brains. It can change the way that some of our brain parts are activated and function. So, love can make us more trusty, less doubtful, more fearless, and less pessimistic. And, it achieves this only by “shutting down” the areas that control these negative feelings. Thus, it makes us happier and drives us to connect. Ultimately, love broadens our perspective and our lives. So, the message is clear and no one disagrees. Love always finds a way to be fulfilled even with the ultimate sacrifice.

Happy Valentine’s Day ♥
