“Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.”                   Lao-tzu

It is surprisingly to find out every time that positive deeds have this quality; to increase positivity, happiness and well-being in our lives, reduce negative feelings and gain acceptance of others. We have all read about this in some old classic novel (A Christmas Carol by Dickens comes immediately to my mind), but I’m happy to discover that these things don’t happen only in novels and fairy-tales.

An experiment with students in Vancouver has shown that after four weeks performing acts of kindness, kids felt happier and their well-being and their peer acceptance were increased. Benefits of acting with kindness are not influence only the giver and the recipient, as we would expect, but also all who witness the altruistic act. They may all experience feelings of fulfilment, serenity and inner peace.

Charity, empathy, kindness, compassion, different words of the same act seems to work with the same rules. They work as multipliers of our mind’s and life’s positive state.
